Ramesh Pachpande

Ramesh Pachpande Paintings - Artist Profile

Ramesh Hari Pachpande is a renowned artist who hails from Maharashtra, India. Having obtained his Diploma in Art Education from Sir J.J School of Art in 1978, he spent a few years as an art teacher before dwelling into painting full time.

His work is largely themed around Indian culture and the concept of love, attraction and beauty. Most of his paintings are that of human form and though dominantly containing a male and a female character, they are extremely unique in terms of expression and depiction. His art depicts his rural roots and sometimes also portray scenes from the Indian mythology.

His ability to express complex emotions like bliss, timidity, yearning, devotion, and passion in an unsophisticated honest form is what sets him apart. He is known for his usage of acrylics but it is charcoal that he is drawn towards as he believes it helps him express human emotions with simplicity and minimalism. His artwork consists of long curved strokes which create an oblong effect, often identified as his signature style. His paintings have a fluidity associated with them due to the prominence of curves. Subtle, soft hues are prominently seen which provides a rustic feel to all his work. Monochromes and sepia tones dominate his galleries.

His work has been a part of various exhibitions both nationally and internationally. He is a recipient of the prestigious National Award, awarded by Lalit Kala Akademi, India’s National Academy for Fine Arts. He has been an artist for more than 25 years and has held numerous exhibitions all over, in the cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, London, Dubai, Singapore, North Korea, San Francisco, amongst many others. He has been associated with a number of art festivals, art camps and live performances worldwide.
