Ritu Kamath - Artist Profile
Ritu Kamath is a B.F.A from Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi (1992) and is currently a visiting faculty at Amity University Noida. Ritu has been very passionate about pushing her boundaries of what she knows to be ‘art’ and she is one of the few artists who has worked with with mixed media on paper and created a sculpture in fiber glass. At the beginning of her career, Ritu worked closely with reknowened artists Shobha and Rameshwar Boota.
Several critics applaud Ritu’s ability to experiment with different themes and ideas in her paintings effortlessly. Her work is about beauty and how she sees it as a woman. Her art is rooted in the present times where she also includes urban themes – figures in modern attire with heads of wires, cow or a flower. Her art is about making sense of her environments and adding fantastical elements which give her artwork an edge. She also has the ability to work on very large canvases to even a 9x9 inch paper.
Ritu has been creating and showcasing her work for a few decades now. She has been a part of exhibitions, group and solo shows and workshops among others, in India and abroad. Her artwork is a showcase of her versatility and talent as an Indian, female artist and is worthy of being a part of your art collection.
