Back in the day, Guruul was the only place where students could gain knowledge. Children from different families lived happily with each other, followed guruji's instruction and help their gurumata out. This also taught then to live in harmony Domestic animals especially cows and bull held a special place in gurukul. Sanjay Raut's Gurkul is one of those paintings that emphasises on the life at Gurukul. Renowned for his sadhu series, Raut loves to paint the religious students. He uses a large array of colours including tones of green, red, orange, yellow and white. His bold confident strokes enhances the shape to his paintings

ABOUT ARTIST

Born in 1976, in a Maharashtrian family, Sanjay Raut developed an inclination towards stories in early childhood. Stories he heard from his mother about the disciplined learning of the gurukul – system of learning primarily for the Brahmin youth – mentored by a guru, the many nuances therein.

By his own admission, Raut stands fascinated by this culture and continues to be drawn into intricacies. Each of his canvas is a portrayal of a unique moment. A sense of calm pervades in his paintings; they become a place where time stands still and life goes on unhurried, away from the humdrum of the big cities.

The backgrounds delight with their religious wall paintings, fading from exposure to elements, a kind of traditional religious graffiti that is available to see around both rural and urban India even today. Sanjay draws his visual inspirations from the skeins of his imagination, making the bygone era alive with a vibrant immediacy. It’s an idyllic mix of both urbaneness of a temple town with peaceful serenity of the rural.

In many ways his works are an eye opener to the outside world of what one seeks on this soil. The artist is a celebrated figure, well renowned for his unique yet captivating style of artwork.

Shipping and Delivery

Within India
If you reside within India, you can expect to receive the artwork within seven (7) to ten (10) business days from time of order.

International Shipping
If you reside outside India, you can expect to receive the artwork within eleven (11) to fourteen (14) business days from time of order, depending on the origin and destination of the artwork as well as the time it takes to clear customs.

Packaging

Stretched Canvas
Most artworks on the site are on stretched canvas. The artworks will be rolled, bubble wrapped and placed inside a protective cylinder to ensure the artwork doesn’t get damaged during shipping.

Canvas/ Wood Board/ Framed
Paintings on wooden or canvas boards or framed works will be bubble wrapped and placed in a sturdy box. We assure you that utmost care will be taken while packing the product.
