Artist Statement
Art comes naturally to me; it is this innate drive to create, to paint. The lines represent the 'lifeline' of my thoughts; I have always visualized painting in this form.
Life is complicated, and I like to simplify things, compartmentalize and action them sequentially. Maybe it is that subconscious personality trait that gets reflected in my painting style as well. I have depicted portraits, figures, compositions and now abstraction within these 'lines'. My art has been a constant companion in my journey of life and it has developed consequently, reflecting, emulating, challenging, and steadily progressing as I lap up my life experiences - the good, the bad, the ugly and the thought-provoking.
I am a contemporary woman raised in the culturally rich country of India; I represent that global citizen, who is inherently Indian, dealing with the dilemma of a modern upbringing with a deep-rooted sense of 'lndianess'. I constantly deal with the disparity in my thinking and that of the society that I am a part of. Having studied religion to quench my curiosity, I am agnostic, practising spiritual semblance, to keep sanity while combating the anxiety.
About Artist
Srushti Rao is a trained artist and management professional with over 20 years of experience as a practising artist. She is an emerging visual artist with several solo & group exhibitions, nationally and internationally, under her belt in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Milan, Dubai, Amsterdam etc. She was awarded the Bharat Nirman (Build India) Award for her contribution to Art in 2015 in the emerging artist category. Srushti believes in taking creative risks and producing striking pieces of art.
- Exhibited in 10 international shows over the last decade – Paris, Milan, Amsterdam, Dubai, and Indonesia
- Has participated in over 15 professional artists shows in India in Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Nagpur, Indore etc.
- Has also participated in digital and virtual art events.
- Has exhibited and organized 5 solo shows in Mumbai and Delhi
Additionally, she is also a successful marketing & communications specialist. She has functioned as an entrepreneur, authored publications, social media influencer, and content creator with a rich experience spanning over 2 decades. She founded and ran a branding and digital agency that organized corporate events, for 6 years working with some big names like Oracle, Future Group, Roche, HPCL, and Total Oil.
Srushti's first Contemporary Romance Fiction Novel was released in 2020 titled - Of Unspoken Words and Half Said Truth. Srushti lives and breathes out of her studio in Navi Mumbai and has successfully produced over 200+ works of art.
