Siddharth Singade’s ‘Trees 2’ illustrates some tall and beautiful trees, on a late summer evening, where the moon is basking in its full glory. One can observe myriad alluring details in the trees such as the intricate lines on the barks representing the tree rings, the dry, leafless branches, the different tones of brown and ocher blending together, creating a woody effect on the canvas. The colour shading also portrays the light effect and the ages of various trees. The play of light and shadow is one of the most interesting things in this painting. Onlookers can observe the dark shadows on the ground around the trees. Singade has put a lot of thought and effort into the effect of the magnificent full moon’s mellow light on the trees.

Siddharth Shingade was born in 1983 and is an Art Teacher Diploma (Latur), General Diploma in Painting from L.S.Raheja School of Art (Mumbai) and a Diploma in Art Education holder from Sir J.J. School of Art (Mumbai). He has showcased his work nationally and internationally in places such as Nepal, Srilanka, and Mongolia. He is a much sought-after artist and has achieved popularity in a short span of time.

Siddharth has a deep emotional connect with his place of birth. Marathwada is India’s worst drought-affected location. His paintings echo the mellowed mood of his people. His art showcases their daily lives. Siddharth uses mixed media and acrylic on canvas to impart textures and details to his work. From depicting the villages scenes highlighted in deep reds, earthy browns, pistachio greens to painting in monochromes, HE shows mastery over his method and message. His artwork has meaningful titles which the viewer instantly relates to and allows the viewer to accept the artist’s profound message.

Siddharth does not attempt to make his work light or add humor. He is consistent with what and how he wants to portray people on his canvas. You will see the Shiva and Parvati too being done by him, yet, there is a depth, an ongoing conversation that the viewer can listen to. Sometimes the divine couple is depicted as a human couple- yet Siddharth manages to make them stand out.
