There’s life, there’s death and then there is everything in between. Ganga Ghat is a place that witnesses all three. While some Ganga Ghats are known for the last rites and used exclusively for cremation, others are used for holy bathing and for Ganga puja (praying to the River Ganga). People also bring their newborns for the holy bathing and Ganga puja. Besides these, River Ganga witnesses the daily activities of the shop owners on the Ghats, the day to day lives of priests and many other tourists and visitors. Nilesh Bharti has captured these daily activities in his picturesque painting ‘Ganga Ghat’. Using a limited colour palette, the artist has recreated a mesmerising painting of the ghat and focused a lot on the details. One can admire the beautiful layers in the background, the blue silhouette of the temple, reflection of people in the holy waters of the River Ganga and the flowers spread all around the floor. To break the complete monochromatic look, Bharti has added colours to the painting, by highlighting the visitors’ bright clothes. The use of watercolours has helped the artist to give the temple and the ghat a serene and divine look.

Nilesh Bharti is a graduate of Sir J.J. School of Art and has completed G.D. Art Diploma, Drawing & Painting with a first class. He also has a Diploma in Arts Education being a qualified Arts teacher having completed his Art Teacher Diploma, B.A.

He has won several awards such as Malegaon Art Foundation Award (1st Position 2016), Nasik Kalaniketan Annual Art Exhibition Award (2004,2006, 2011), and Best Landscape Awards (2010) by The Bombay Art Society among many others.

Nilesh’s prowess lies in rendering beautiful landscapes in watercolor and dry pastels. His paintings have the enigmatic portrayal of cities such as Benaras or Bombay showcasing the Ghats or early architecture. His play with the color blue, is perhaps his signature style, as he brings out misty mornings to perfection on his canvas. Nilesh has been able to capture serenity in his paintings, making the viewer go back again and again to his work.

He is a master artist, whose work is gaining steadfast popularity among lovers of Art. He has participated in numerous solo, group and art camps around the country.

Take serenity home with you when you take Nilesh Bharti’s landscapes home.
