Gurmeet Marwah was born in 1984. He earned his BFA in painting from College of Art, New Delhi in 2009 and MFA in printmaking from College of Art, New Delhi, in 2011. Before that he also pursued a course in commercial art from I.T.I PUSA, New Delhi in 2002.

Gurmeet’s artwork is based on two levels of narratives: personal and societal. The animals and objects in his art, such as the birds, monkey, owl, balloons, soda bottles, kites, etc. are metaphors. These objects also add a pop of colour to his otherwise monochromatic paintings. His paintings por-tray the illustrations of human behaviour and interactions narrate the irony. Animals highlight the comparisons in these interactions. The artist uses an owl, as a messenger or a post man. Writer across the world have often romanticised owls, pigeons and other birds as messengers, especially those delivering love notes. The artist has replaced the owl's clever face with a bright red heart, thus portraying it as a love envoy.

Over the years, Gurmeet has displayed his works at many national and international galleries, including the prestigious Bombay Art Society, Ravindra Bhavan, Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi, Ja-hangir Art Gallery, Mumbai and his alma mater College of Art, New Delhi. Gurmeet’s art is a part of many Indian and international art collections, including Lalit Suri Hospitality Group and College of Art, New Delhi.

ART ADVISORY

We understand that choosing art is an art in itself, be it for your living space as home decor, your boardroom, for you collection, or for your investment portfolio.

It is always difficult to tell what kind of palette would go in with your walls and architecture, what would make that living room expansive, majestic or cosy as you prefer it.
