Carl Jung said, “In all the chaos there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order.” At first glance, one would find this painting chaotic, but soon they will see the order in it. Different red-orange coloured lines following the same direction, combine and create an alluring cluster of colour. Each cluster is divided with a contrasting colour; grey, white, yellow, green and blue. Similar disarrayed black lines, create an engrossing outline. It may be fingers run in coloured sand, microbes observed under microscope, insects or animals from a strange land crawling on the ground, or perhaps, that’s an image of thoughts running across our minds.
Born in Azamgarh in 1987, Bhuwal Prasad graduated from Faculty of Visual Arts, BHU, Vara-nasi in 2010 and post graduated from College of Arts, Delhi in 2012.
In many different ways, Bhuwal’s art is inspired by the traditional tribal art, found in many parts of India. Based on simple line drawing, these tribes would use art as a medium to express their emotions. These paintings that are made from natural colours and found objects, became a big part of our history. Bhuwal strikes a good mix of colourful and monochromatic paintings and adorn them with various abstract elements, keeping them in their natural form. In his own unique way, the artist is turning the traditional tribal art form into contemporary paintings.
