Singh’s Village of my Dreams is a visual treatise of a scenic village overview. The clustered dwellings with a zig-zag of pitched roofs resemble a common panorama of rural cultural landscapes. The mystifying hues that edge the small village are probably hints of a dream-like existence of a calm rustic life. Singh’s representation illuminates upon the idea of a modest yet peaceful congregation of human habitats- that today’s city dwellers may remain oblivious to being engrossed in a bustling urban life that cloys our senses with too much offerings of modern life. It’s true that the line between technology driven lifestyles and outmoded ways of living is fast disappearing. In this light Village of my Dreams provides a glimpse of a simple living that is slowly being relegated to a primeval category.
"M Singh hails from Patna. He is a self taught artist, who left home after obtaining his degree in Commerce to move to Mumbai and pursue his passion of being an artist. Singh’s genre of work can be classified as semi abstracts. His work though mostly abstract, contains the essence of a story. His village abstracts are beautifully rendered with bare distinction. His work depicts just enough visualisation for a viewer to understand the image before it all merges together into a melody of abstraction. The moodscape of his paintings are deterministic of his hues. A rather remarkable rendition is the use of hues to elucidate light and shadows in his abstracts. Villagescapes are the general theme observed, a depiction of simplicity, chaos and bustling activity. His religious paintings exhuberate positive energy and serenity. His most predominantly used medium is acrylic on canvas. He uses hues like ochres, reds, blues and greys in large quantities. He uses short blunt strokes in his work. He has numerous solo as well as group shows to his credit. His work has been featured in galleries in India as well as abroad. "
