Bhaskar Rao Botcha completed his B.F.A. in Painting from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, in 1999, followed by an M.F.A. in Painting from the University of Hyderabad in 2001. Born and raised in Salur, Andhra Pradesh, his artistic journey is deeply influenced by his childhood experiences amidst orchards, fields, and the abundant natural landscape. These early memories continue to shape his creative vision, inspiring a body of work that celebrates the quiet magnificence of nature while drawing attention to the delicate relationship between humanity and the environment.

Bhaskar Rao's paintings are distinguished by their evocative portrayals of trees, which serve as both subject and symbol throughout his oeuvre. More than mere representations of nature, his trees embody resilience, memory, and spiritual continuity. Richly textured surfaces, expressive brushwork, and bold, unexpected colour palettes transform familiar landscapes into contemplative visual experiences. Rather than depicting nature realistically, he interprets it through emotion and imagination, inviting viewers to reflect on the enduring beauty of the natural world and the urgency of its preservation.

His preferred medium is acrylic on canvas, through which he creates layered compositions with remarkable depth and luminosity. Bhaskar Rao has held several solo exhibitions in Hyderabad and Taiwan, while participating in more than sixty group exhibitions across India, Germany, the UAE, and Taiwan. His artistic achievements include representing India at the India–Russia Art Festival in St. Petersburg, receiving the Junior Fellowship from the Ministry of Tourism & Culture, Government of India, and being honoured with the State-Level Painting Award from Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University. His works form part of numerous private and corporate collections in India and abroad.
