Ritu Kamath (b. 1970) is a visual artist with a multidisciplinary approach to her works.
Ritu started practising art under the tutelage of Shobha Broota and Rameshwar Broota at the Triveni Kala Sangam Studios in Delhi, from 1986 onwards. She completed her Masters in Fine Arts from Gwalior in 2018. Ritu has been teaching as guest faculty at Amity University since 2014.
She has experimented with several métiers and forms in her career as an artist. Her primary concern has been to create beauty with impact, whether she is exploring the feminine form or exploring satires or themes. Ritu has been working on a series titled ‘Journey's and Flights to an Unknown Land’ using diverse mediums. The series is broadly based on a desire to break away from real-life shackles.
She expresses her desires on the canvas by reinterpreting the various thoughts that run through her mind daily. It is an assemblage of triggers, tasks, thoughts, dreams, symbols, and interpretations that constantly titillate her mind. To interpret or translate her thoughts, she has relied upon drawing with inks and acrylics on paper and canvas. Her works are multi-layered and detailed.
In her career spanning two and half decades, Ritu has had nine solos and nearly 80 group shows to her credit. Some of the significant shows worth mentioning are participation in IAF (2020) with the gallery Engendered Space. The booth was sponsored by the Italian Embassy.
